Exmoor

We stayed at The Cottage, Bridge Ball, which provides accommodation for five, and is situated some 5 miles from Lynmouth in idyllic peaceful surroundings

This is our first visit to Exmoor & the northern section provides a variety of scenery including coastal cliffs, river valley walks and open moorland; in fact, I don't think we could have chosen a better location

22.09.02 7 3½ Lynmouth & Foreland Point A circular walk from the cliff top hamlet of Countisbury past it's church and over Butter Hill to the lighthouse at Foreland Point, then heading along the coastal path with spectacular views along the coast between Lynmouth & Porlock Bays before turning inland at Desolation Point returning over the smooth slopes of Countisbury Common Warm & sunny
23.09.02 9½ 4½ Tarr Steps & Withypool Hill  A circular walk from Withypool along the much used and well marked path by the River Barle to Tarr Steps, a unique clapper bridge, returning over open moorland via Withypool Hill. Warm & sunny
24.09.02 - - Clovelly, Hartland Point & Hartland Quay A visit to the timeless village of Clovelly where the steep cobbled street tumbles down past gleaming white cottages to the tiny harbour, past Hartland Point, Devon's most northerly point, to Hartland Quay with it's dramatic coastline. Warm & sunny
25.09.02 12 5 Watersmeet, Lynmouth, Lynton & Valley of Rocks  Describes as a classic walk of Exmoor, this walk follows the top edge of the valleys over Myrtleberry Cleave to Lymouth with a visit to the Valley of the Rocks before returning through the beautiful, steep sided & thickly wooded valleys of East Lyn River & Hoaroak Water past the National Trust tea rooms at Watersmeet. Warm & sunny
26.09.02 9 5 Dunkery Beacon, Stoke Pero & Luccombe A circular walk to Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor at 1704 feet, from the car park at Webber's Post to Stoke Pero, Horner Wood and Luccombe. Warm & sunny
27.09.02 8 5 Lorna Doone Country A circular walk along the banks of Badgworthy River to Great Tom's Hill returning over open moorland via Oare. Overcast & dry with occasional sunny spells
